Metaphix tells the story of an extraterrestrial who lands on Earth—and stages it with an element that lends the piece its documentary character: the original radio vocal from the ABC News broadcast of July 8, 1947—the day the world first heard about the Roswell incident. Like a transmission from another time, the historical recording flickers through the mix—making the landing almost real. Musically, G minor sets the tone: at 147 BPM, the track unfolds over 8:50 minutes like a slow-motion approach—darkly shimmering, hypnotic, from the first signals to contact. Released on November 12, 2019, "An Alien On Earth" is, in retrospect, more than just a single: it's one of the first tracks in which Metaphix conceived of a song as a story—an approach that would later become their signature in "Witchcraft," "Down the Rabbit Hole," and "Cosmic Tribe."
